the mission

Small stops. Better days.

Cities are big. Days are made of small things: a place to sit, a working outlet, a bathroom that isn't a fifteen-minute walk out of your way.

Pitstop exists because those small things are surprisingly hard to find when you actually need them, and because solving that, quietly and well, changes how a whole day feels.

the problem

Nobody can tell you what's actually open right now.

The city was not designed around your bladder, and somehow that's still always the plan. NYC doesn't lack places to stop. It lacks a way to know which ones are open, clean, and worth the walk today. You'll pass nine coffee shops before finding one bathroom that's actually open, and the door code is six digits only the regulars know.

Search engines surface places that existed five years ago. Review apps reward whoever shouted loudest, not whoever was most useful. None of it answers the only question that matters in the moment: is this near my route, is it open, and can I trust the last person who checked it?

Small things, not big promises.

We're not trying to reinvent the city. We're trying to help you find a bathroom, an outlet, a quiet bench: the small stuff that quietly ruinswrecks an otherwise good afternoon when you can't find it in time, the kind of thing that turns into negotiating with a vending machine at 2pm.

Verified by people who were there.

A listing is only as good as the last person who checked it. Pitstop leans on the people actually walking the route, not stale directory data: the stranger who plugged in at that deli nineteen minutes ago and is, as far as we know, fine. Outlet found. Crisis postponed. That's the whole system, really.

Useful beats impressive.

No gamified streaks, no infinite feed, no reason to open the app once you've found what you needed. If Pitstop saves you four minutes and gets out of your way, it did its job.

Built for the route you're already on.

Your phone will die before your day does, and somehow that's also always the plan. A stop is only good if it's near where you're going. Everything Pitstop ranks is judged against one question: how much does this cost you in steps, time, and battery to get there?

why nyc

If it works here, it works anywhere.

We're starting in New York because if a city this dense, this fast, and this unforgiving can be made a little easier to move through, anywhere can.

NYC is the hardest possible proving ground: millions of people, constant motion, zero patience for tools that don't pull their weight. We'd rather get it right here, for real people on real routes, than launch everywhere and be useful nowhere.
